Lithium battery explosion, China fights for dominance
Power storage technology is the most important backing for the new energy industry, and Tesla, which produces the affordable electric model Model3, is now the most eye-catching and most active battery technology company. Tesla and Panasonic's super factory plans are now creating a lot of jobs in the US. Emerging industries, and ready to expand globally, but in fact, China is the largest battery manufacturing country in the future, and the production capacity will far exceed Tesla's super factory.
According to reports, the newly built battery factories of Chinese enterprises will add up to 120 GWh of lithium batteries by 2021, enough to provide 1.5 million ModelS or 1.37 million Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid electric vehicles per year. After Tesla's super battery factory was fully built in 2018, it produced at most 35 GWh of lithium batteries every year.
In the past, smart phones, notebook computers and other personal electronic devices have used lithium batteries, but the demand for lithium batteries has to break out. Not only electric vehicles, but also power companies will install giant storage systems to store wind and solar energy. Tesla produced nearly 84,000 electric vehicles last year and is expected to produce 500,000 units in 2018.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to the battery industry and tries to win market dominance. At present, about 55% of the world's lithium battery production comes from China, and the United States only accounts for 10%. By 2021, China's market share is expected to grow to 65%, the main driving force. It is still a government policy, and the Chinese government regards the lithium battery industry as an important national strategy in 2020.
Globally, global battery capacity will double from the current 103GWh to 273GWh in 2021. This is a huge business opportunity, and China has long been eyeing. And three years ago, Tesla's super factory plans to blew the horn for global battery manufacturing competition, and China is fully committed to development.
Tesla plans to announce the location of four other plants by 2017, one of which will be in Shanghai. Although Chinese companies rarely achieve such a large scale of production in Tesla, although China lacks a leading battery giant, many small and medium-sized enterprises in China are enough to occupy the market, including dozens of amps and technology.
Earlier this year, the Chinese government announced that it would integrate battery manufacturers to promote the mature development of the industry. At the same time, the Chinese government plans to let 5 million electric vehicles on the highway by 2020. The report believes that the Chinese government's ambitious development of electric vehicles is mainly due to the increasing pressure of serious pollution in cities such as Baoding, Xingtai and Shijiazhuang. The second reason is to create a domestic market for Chinese battery manufacturers, and to gain a foothold in the global market. .
